When your finances seem as though they can’t get any worse it may be time to seek outside help. There is government loans for single moms which can be obtained by visiting one of your local government offices or by doing some research online. Funded by tax dollars these different types of government programs are available to anyone who may need it regardless of age, sex, or race. There are several programs to choose from but below are a few of the more popular ones.

The TANF Program (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families/Families First) gives a small cash donation to families who are currently in a financial crisis. This is given to those single moms who have children with needs that aren’t being met financially. As the parent the mom is responsible for working at least 30 hours per week in order to keep the cash assistance. For individuals currently using or seeking the help of TANF will be required to make sure their child attends school, stays current on vaccinations, and work with any courts to establish the paternity and seek child support from the child’s father. The TANF program also may provide food stamps for those single moms in need.

The WIC Program (Women, Infants & Children) is one of the most successful and popular government programs available for those single moms currently experiencing hardship. This particular program offers monthly coupons for free grocery items. The items received are for those single moms who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding and children up to the age of 5. The financial limits for be approved for WIC is higher than other types of programs so your odds of being approved are better.

The Chip Program also known as the Children’s Health Insurance Program is an insurance plan funded by the government and can be found in every state. This particular program is used to meet the needs of those individuals who cannot afford any type of insurance. All needs including medical, dental and vision is covered for children under the age of 18 with little to no co pay to the parents. The CHIP program is wonderful for those single moms who are working hard to support their children but still worry about how they will pay for their health insurance.

 

Reduced or Free Meals is a true godsend for many children whos nutritional needs are not being met. Many children receive very little food at home and with this program they receive low costing or free breakfasts and lunches that provide the correct nutrition that any growing child needs. Your family will need to be in a specific income bracket in order to qualify.

Food Stamps is a government based program that allows single moms to stock their refrigerator on a monthly basis with healthy nutritional foods that them and their family needs in order to survive.

You can apply to any of these programs by visiting or calling your local Department of Human Resources office during business hours. There is plenty of government assistance for single mothers they just need to be utilized.
